Description
A lone bull elk roams one of the fields of the Cataloochee Valley in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Autumn is an amazing time of year in this deep mountain valley and the stillness of a misty morning is often broken by the lonely bugle of a bull elk. Elk bugle to attract females to breed and to warn other males that this is their territory. To claim a harem and the title of King of the Field, bulls compete with one another in jousting matches, violent bashing of heads and antlers to win the right to breed.
