While thru hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine I had the unique opportunity to get up close and personal with nature. Over six months of hiking up and down mountains, living in the woods and slowing life down to a walking pace. I got really tuned in to the natural world around me, the forests and all that call them home. It’s an amazing experience. I was blessed to have so many encounters with wildlife. Plenty of bears, deer and of course snakes. This rattlesnake encounter was incredible. The snake was just off the trail and was just about to begin eating the squirrel. I was able to watch, from a safe distance the entire process start to finish.
