Watch Your Step!
You never know what you’re going to find (or what is going to find you)…
Be careful out there!
I met this snake hiking back to my truck after visiting White Owl Falls. It was peaceful and despite their fierce reputation, it was just doing what it does. Snakes have their place in nature and should be respected. Leave them alone, give them space and let them live.
I really enjoyed spending a couple minutes with this snake. I shot this as wide open as I could because I thought the depth of field would be pretty cool to have just the head in focus. I've done this before with captive snakes shot through glass, this was my first attempt with a snake in the wild. I like it! stare at it's face for a couple seconds and see if it seems to move. Anyway, this is likely the last thing many mice and small rodents ever see.
