Description
The black bear in Great Smoky Mountains National Park are easy to find once the cherry trees ripen. In preparation for winter the bears eat almost non stop. A single bear can spend several days in a single cherry tree and will devour every cherry it can reach. Those cherries out on limbs too small to climb on are no problem for a hungry bear. They simply break the limbs or chew them off. Once all the cherries in the tree are eaten they’ll descend and eat all that have fallen or are on limbs they’ve dropped.
